In keeping with the tradition of celebrating great American holidays, CocoVail is preparing a celebration for Thanksgiving in Barcelona (aka Friendsgiving in Barcelona). 2023 will mark the 7th anniversary of our homage to this beautiful holiday.
We will be open from 12:30 PM to 12 AM. Our activities will start with the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, as well as 2 of the NFL games on deck for the holiday. It's an honor for us to celebrate this day with you, and it's our mission to ensure you feel at home, just like you're back at grandma's house.

It's easily one of the best celebrations of the USA, as it simply celebrates the literal giving of thanks. Gratitude, my friends, it's all about gratitude. It's the freaking best!

If you don't believe us, click that link and read more about it.You can be grateful for the luxuries of life, your family, friends, love, beauty, pimps & hoes, parties, craft beers (Lord knows we are thankful for them), and/ or simply the air you breathe every day. While this is similar to Christmas in some ways, it doesn't come with the added pressure of buying presents or making impressions through gifts.You literally just get together with your family and friends and have an incredible meal. Traditionally the meal includes, but is not limited to: turkey, mashed potatoes, yams, pumpkin pie, and booze. Booze comes in many forms: wine, beer, liquor, whatever it is, it goes down and goes down quick.
This year, we will broadcast the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade as an accoutrement for the whole spirit of this awesome day. It's all about tradition.Additionally, the NFL celebrates the day with some competitive games on the ticket.
Thanksgiving football provided one of the funnier/ more memorable NFL moments with Mark Sanchez's "butt fumble". If you don't know what we're talking about, here it is... You're welcome. :)

So you know what happens for the holiday, but what gives? Why did this day even happen in the first place? This neat video synopsis (posted below) provides a little background, and we can't claim that it is 100% historically accurate, but it will give you a better idea of why it is a holiday.
In a nutshell, after the colonists from Britain spent some time treating the Native Americans less-than-affably, they had a meal together to settle their differences. They shared foods from their respective culinary backgrounds, but let's be honest, Britain is not exactly known for it's food. The country has a lot of redeeming qualities, but Shepard's Pie is not one of them.
Stay tuned for more details, as this is going to be an annual tradition at CocoVail. We want it to be a time to bring family and friends in remembering what is awesome about this thing called life. We'll provide some traditional grub as well as some drinks to help wash down the deliciousness. There's certainly a lot to be thankful for, and we're looking forward to celebrating with you and yours on this Thanksgiving. In the words of AC, our Co-Founder, it's going to be "huge!"
