It's not just Mayer's bread that stands out among peers' offerings, it's their whole assortment of artisanal breads, pastries, snacks, and traditional baked goods that are delightful and delectable. As a traditional bakery, Boulangerie Mayer is a perfect addition to Barcelona and to the famed Gràcia neighborhood.

What's So Special About Gràcia?

Gràcia is unlike other parts of Barcelona, because it has a small town feel. It's quite the shift from the hustle and bustle throughout the rest of the city. In fact, Gràcia used to be a village separate from Barcelona. Time and expansion transformed it into one of Barcelona's most unique and famed barrios.

In Gràcia, you find many mom & pop shops, small cafés, etc that give a totally different vibe than the rest of the city. Gràcia is also home to one of the best parties of the year. The Festa Major de Gràcia, which features a week's worth of concerts, costumes, decorations, and other festivities for people of all ages.

What Makes Mayer the Best Bakery in Barcelona?

As the adage goes, the proof is in the pudding, and at Boulangerie Mayer the proof is found in the bread. Their head baker is literally a classically trained creator of breads and pastries. When you walk into their establishment, you are immediately greeted by the sweet smells of baked goods. The walls are covered with different styles of breads, and you have a wide assortment of pastries with other delicious snacks made in the artisanal style.

Side Note: Their croissants are to die for, literally. They are so gosh darn good you'll want to clean them out of stock when you go. Furthermore, their almond croissant may be one of the tastiest things we've ever eaten. It is probably sufficient as a morning snack to accompany your coffee, but fair warning, you'll be back for more before long.

Furthermore, Mayer also creates traditional baked goods to accompany specific events and celebrations depending on the time of year. For example, they make Coca de Sant Joan for the Sant Joan holiday on June 23rd. The point is, we challenge you to go there and not find at least one thing that leaves you coming back for more.
